Garrison Brothers Distillery

While born on a submarine base in Bremerton, Wash., Dan Garrison, master distiller of Garrison Brothers Distillery, moved to Texas at the age of one. He began his bourbon adventure in 2001, writing business plans, conducting research and acquiring the ranch space.

Garrison founded the Garrison Brothers in 2006 and their federal permit was issued in 2007, making it the oldest legal distillery in Texas history. Every batch of Garrison Brothers Bourbon Whiskey is distilled in the small town of Hye, Texas, right outside of Austin.  They grow and grind the grains, use fresh corn and barley, distill in copper tanks and age in charred American oak barrels.  These small batch bourbons evolve from batch to batch but all carry notes of vanilla, brown sugar, amber and honey.  Garrison’s favorite part of their whiskey is the love that goes into it. “The men and women who make this bourbon are rightfully proud of what they do. It’s the highest quality, finest tasting bourbon made in the world today,” says Garrison.

 

Garrison first met Jack Gilmore at Austin City Limits Music Festival, while he served grub to the music goers at Zilker Park.  Dan explains his admiration for Jack best: “The man works hard, gives back, and is considered one of the best in the business by just about everyone I know.” While he prefers his bourbon whiskey straight up, Garrison does love every cocktail Jack Allen’s Kitchen has made with Garrison Brothers, making note of the creative minds of bar manager David Toby and his staff.

Garrison Brothers Distillery is a small farm and ranch located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, which also authentically produces original recipe straight bourbon whiskey. Garrison Brothers introduced the first legal whiskey distillery in Texas history in 2010, and outside of Kentucky and Tennessee, is one of only a few distilleries in America that is successfully producing authentic, handmade bourbon whiskey and only bourbon whiskey. The business was founded in 2006. The business is owned by the Garrison family and a few friends. 1 1/2 oz. Garrison Brothers Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey

1/4 oz. yellow chartreuse

1/4 oz. Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur

1/2 oz. Carpano Antica

 

Add all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice. Stir with bar spoon while in the glass, approximately 10 times. Strain over rocks or serve up.
